Kenyan Safaris

Overview

Kenya offers some of the best safari viewing and can be combined with a Mt Kenya trek easily. These destinations are best starting from Nairobi. We will work together to put the ideal itinerary in place for you. Be aware that unlike Tanzania, Kenya is a Yellow Fever risk country. While no yellow ever vaccine is required for Tanzania, it is required before entering Kenya.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Along with the Serengeti, Masai Mara is one of the best safari destinations in the world. The famous Great Migration herds locate inside the Masai Mara from July through October. But game viewing here is excellent any time of the year. There are many lions and leopards located here. This reserve is smaller than the Serengeti and as a result more crowded during the peak migration months. But it is well worth a visit. From Nairobi traveling by safari vehicle will take 6 hours to reach the Masai Mara. There are safari airstrips inside the reserve, so the option of flying in by safari plane (typically 18 - 22 passengers) is a good consideration. Accommodations range from basic camping to some of the most exclusive lodges and tented camps. We recommend a minimum of 3 days at this destination but even one week will not be too long especially at high end accommodations.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park is located just north of Mt Kilimanjaro. Besides amazing wildlife, the most spectacular views of Mt Kilimanjaro are from inside this park. There are some great opportunities for photography. There are plenty of elephants inside this park but not as many predators as in Masai Mara. The park gets a lot of visitors since it is easy to reach from Nairobi, just a 3 - 4 hour drive. We suggest a duration of 2 days at this destination.
